Hi there! My name is Andrea.
I grew up in Halifax - that's Massachusetts,
not Nova Scotia, and the reason you've never heard of it is because unless you live there, you'd have no reason to seek it out - but it's home, and it's only recently that I've discovered that there is a special place in our hearts for the places we were born and raised.I fell in love with Jesus almost 3 years ago, and it's been an adventure! This will be my first missions trip and I cannot wait to see what He is going to do with us in Uganda!
I am a junior at Salve Regina and my major is English Communications. I always thought I wanted to be a journalist, but recently the Lord has put a passion for children and for teaching on my heart, which is something I never saw coming but that I am really excited about pursuing. It's crazy to think how when you say 'take my life,' he really does some terifically awesome things!
I have felt the missionary tug on my heart since I became a Christian, and the how's and why's of how I ended up on this specific trip are marvel-ous in a way that brings me back to praise whenever I really think about it. He is so good.
I love to paint! While I am not so much artistically inclined, there is something wonderful about taking somthing blank (ex. plywood, canvas, cardboard, etc.) and turning it into something colorful and messy and glorious. I also love to write, read, cook and bake, talk and laugh a LOT, clean and organize, encourage, work out, do crafty things, and write and receive letters.
I also love to worship! I love to sing and dance before the Lord. My sister is teaching me to play the guitar - a wonderful worship tool, I have discovered! I love all kinds of music. Anything I can dance to, run to, wash dishes to, anything LOUD, anything country and anything acoustic. Anything that can usher in the presence of the LORD is good in my book! Currently listening to Jesus Culture, Hillsong, and Cory Asbury.
I am fascinated by God, by what he does, how he thinks, and what he likes. I love his Holy Spirit and contemplating His character. I love being unfinished, because it means His work is still being done in my life.
And I am so excited to meet all of you, my team members and brothers and sisters in Him!
